AI & Editorial Standards
Effective June 23, 2026
We believe in being upfront about how our content is made. Utah Untamed uses artificial intelligence as a tool in our editorial process — but every piece we publish is reviewed, edited, and approved by a person before it goes live. There is always a human in the loop.
How we use AI
- Research and drafting: to gather background, organize notes, and produce early drafts that our editors then rework.
- Original visuals: to help produce original imagery, graphics, and Reels covers in our brand style. We do not repost or pass off other outlets' photography as our own.
- Editing support: to check clarity, structure, and consistency.
What a human always does
- Verifies the facts. Claims about trails, access, history, dates, and conditions are checked against primary and official sources. If a fact can't be confirmed, we don't publish it.
- Edits for voice and accuracy. A person shapes every story to read like Utah Untamed — and catches anything an AI tool gets wrong.
- Approves before publishing. Nothing is auto-published without human sign-off.
Our commitment
AI helps us work faster and cover more of Utah. It does not replace editorial judgment, original reporting, or accountability. The responsibility for everything published here rests with our editorial team, not a machine.
Sourcing
Where a story relies on outside information, we cite our sources on the article itself. If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us — we'll review it and correct the record.
